Netwinder Debian ---------------- The 20020607 image contains a basic working debian arm unstable with 2.4.18-rmk5-nw1 as kernel. The kernel headers are also present. This kernel comes from ralphs's beta kernels on ftp.netwinder.org. I 'alien'd them from RPMs to .deb packages. Also present are all the necessary tools and modules for fan control, flashing the nettrom, etc. .. anyways.. HOW TO INSTALL: --------------- 1- Boot with your netwinder's rescue partition. (ie: boot rescue). 2- Untar onto your netwinder's primary partitions (/=hda1 /usr=hda3). Please follow netwinder.org's howtos as to how one would do it normally with a DM image. 3- Make sure you're using the latest nettrom (2.3.3 at the time of this writing). Again, follow the howtos at netwinder.org if you have any problems. 4- reboot and try it out. 5- If it boots, log in as root (no password) and edit 4 files: a- /etc/hosts b- /etc/hostname c- /etc/network/interfaces d- /etc/resolv.conf Put in the proper hostnames and IP addresses. 6- Reboot and try it out. 7- Consider doing a "apt-get update" and a "apt-get dist-upgrade". 8- If you have any questions or support. Sorry, I'm not giving any. ;> -- Luc FireSoul
